Gale who was 18 at the time was 18 when she won a Perth model contest in the year she was 18. Gale won a modeling contest in Perth, at the age of 18. Following a number of years in the field, Gale became famous when she was chosen as a model in an advertisement for Omnitel, an Italian telecom enterprise (now Vodafone Italy). The ads featured her until 2006, and was subsequently chosen by the Australian Tourist Commission as the 'face for Australia within Italy.'
